The COMTO Michigan Chapter is pleased to provide you with this week’s updates….


8th Annual COMTO Scholarship & Golf Outing

This year the COMTO Michigan Chapter held its 8th annual golf outing at Fox Hills Golf Course.  We are proud to announce that this exciting event allowed us to award 6 scholarships to local deserving students.  In addition, we were also able to provide a contribution to the COMTO National Scholarship Fund.  Below are the recipients of this year’s scholarship awards:

  • Jada Crofoot, Wayne State University
  • Evan Hanes, Michigan State University
  • Bernard Farquharson, HVAC Certification Program
  • William Noles, Michigan State University
  • Miles Frierson, Kettering University
  • Zachary Ruddick, Michigan State University

To date, COMTO Michigan has awarded $50,000 in scholarships and contributed $3,250 to the COMTO National Scholarship Fund.  Thank you to all our golfing friends, sponsors, and supporters.  Your continued support makes each event a success.

A special THANK YOU to our Golf Committee Chairpersons, Kim Avery and Dee Parker!!  We appreciate all your hard work to ensure our annual golf outing is a success, the golfers have a fun time, and most importantly that we raise funds to assist our youth in furthering their education.


COMTO Michigan – Annual Strategic Planning Meeting

The COMTO Michigan Chapter will hold our annual Strategic Planning Meeting on Saturday, August 24, 2019, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.  During this meeting the Executive Team and Committee Chairpersons will discuss and develop our goals, objectives, and strategies for 2020.


48th National Meeting and Training Conference hosted by COMTO Central Florida Chapter in Tampa, Florida – July 12 – 16, 2019

§  We are pleased to report that 20 members from the COMTO Michigan Chapter attended the conference

§  The Michigan Chapter came together for a member gathering and had dinner together Saturday night

“Exceptional Small Business” Award Winner – Somat Engineering

Congratulations to one of our valued Corporate Supporters, Somat Engineering, on being selected as National Society of Black Engineers’ “Exceptional Small Business” Award.  Our very own Chapter Vice President, Sharmyn Elliott and our Treasurer, Kim LeBlanc will be traveling to San Diego to receive the award on August 23, 2019.
